Family Life Education
 

Family Life Education is a division of Family Service of Eastern Nova Scotia which is committed to providing quality educational and preventative programming in the community. Our agency social workers/counsellors, professionals experienced in helping people deal with the challenges and concerns of family living, offer a variety of family life education programs dealing with such issues as:

  • Stress & Anger Management
  • Parenting
  • Separation & Divorce
  • Self-Esteem
  • Care for the Caregiver
  • Coping with Grief and Loss
  • Youth Issues: self-esteem, body image, leadership, assertion, decision-making, communication, etc.
  • Marriage Preparation


In addition to the above-mentioned workshops, Family Service may be able to customize a workshop to meet the specific needs of your agency, organization or business. This type of workshop would be developed in accordance with a needs assessment which would be completed by the participants prior to the actual workshop.


Family Life Education programs can be delivered in a variety of formats including:

  • Multi-sessions (ie. A six week program would be held at the same time each week for a period of six weeks)
  • ½ Day and Full Day Workshops
  • Weekend Workshops
  • Lunch & Learns ( 1-1½ hour presentations delivered during the noon hour)


Most of our community-based workshops are offered in the spring and fall. If you are interested in attending one of our programs, please contact your local branch of Family Service of Eastern Nova Scotia to determine what programs are being offered in your community. If the program you are looking for is not currently being offered, we will gladly put you on a waitlist and notify you of the next available time for that program.

For information regarding fees, please phone the Family Service Office in your area. Although there is a fee for service, no one is denied entry to our programs due to an inability to pay.
